Address: 10700 Escondido Canyon Rd, Santa Clarita, CA
This place is incredible! Just 30 minutes outside of LA, wild rock formations welcome visitors of all ages to come climb and explore. They’ve been around for millions of years, yet most Angeleno’s have never heard of this place nor ever visited. It’s free, emphatically fun, and extraordinarily interesting!
Upon entering the park, turn left at the little stop sign and continue driving down the gravel road – passing the first parking lot until reaching the big rock where parking is bountiful and ruggedly undefined. Depending on when you go and how busy it is, you’ll see people climbing and walking all over. There’s no right or wrong way start – just begin wandering wherever you want, and wear hiking shoes, boots, or other well-gripping footwear for optimal fun & safety. You can explore as much or as little as you like. There’s a little bit of everything for all ages – from toddlers & teens to grandma’s and grandpa’s – choose your own adventure.
Many many movies & TV shows have been filmed here: Planet of the Apes, The Flintstones, Star Trek, Mission Impossible, Blazing Saddles, and more; comprehensive list here.
Just a really awesome place to come check out if you’re looking for something different “away from LA”.
