Address: Debs Park Parking Lot, Montecito Heights, CA
A storybook pond and secret swing just a few minutes south of the Silver Lake strip.
Located within the Ernest E. Debs Regional Park, Debs Pond is fairly easy to find. Simply Waze “Debs Park Parking Lot” to be guided directly to the park’s Monterey Road entrance. Continue snaking up the driveway and park as close to the cul-de-sac as possible; that’s where the trail begins. Take the small wooden staircase up toward the big, bushy Palm trees, then veer right onto the uphill slope. Upon reaching the top, you’ll relish in the tranquility and spectacular views of Downtown LA. On the pond’s south side, look for a flat bench & green trash can. Behind them, notice the dirt path that opens up into a hillside meadow; that’s where the swing is – hanging from a tree on the right-hand side, overlooking the bluff.
All-in-all, an excellent SoCal gem sheltered in serenity and seclusion.
While in the area, consider checking out the Heritage Square Museum, Southwest Museum of the American Indian, Los Angeles Police Museum, Galco’s Vintage Soda Pop Shop, Highland Park Bowl, and/or Sunbeam Vintage furniture store.
